Hey, I’m Lauren, your new favorite climbing coach – who’s like, a really good time.

Like you, I’m a recreational rock climber. No one is paying me to rock climb. I’m getting paid to coach. Because I love it – much to the chagrin of my chemical engineering degree.

I started climbing in college – not as a kid. I was also terrified of heights when I first started climbing. I would cry on top rope (not kidding).

In the best way possible, I am not a natural at climbing - which makes me an excellent coach. Because every bit of progress I’ve made in climbing has taken a substantial amount of experimentation and effort. I went from being a climber who would have panic attacks on indoor top ropes to being a climber who can send deep water solo 5.12, take fat whips, redpoint up to 5.12d, and top out tall ass boulders.

All the while having a full time job, starting a business, moving across the country god knows how many times, deciding to take up trail running, and supporting my athletes while I do it.

Bottom line:

I’m someone who is so “normal” in so many ways. My coaching style comes from a place of compassion and practicality for those who want to crush but also can’t live at the climbing gym. If you want to get better at climbing, but you don’t really want to sell your soul to the Devil to do it. I’m the coach for you.

Lastly, I want to mention that while we at Good Spray take improvement seriously - it doesn’t mean that we’re too… serious. 👀

*side note, if you’re curious who “the devil is” I’m pretty sure it’s whoever is putting PERMANENT, AUTO-LOCKING CARABINERS at the top of sport routes in Ten Sleep. LIKE HOW TF ARE WE SUPPOSED TO CLIP THOSE? WITH TWO HANDS!? Whoever is doing this - stop it, it’s bananas.

The Crew Week by 8 Week Plan in a cycle chart

KICKOFF

Just before week 1 starts, you’ll receive the programming. You will have the programming at least 48 hours prior to our kick off call - so you’ll have plenty of time to take a look and get your questions ready.

Our Kickoff Call will be held during week 1 of the program, during the call we will…

  • Set goals for your training cycle according the Forgotten Five Framework
  • Come up with your weekly training schedule (and some back-up plans for when things get hectic)
  • Have time for group Q&A for any other questions you might have.
  • DO MORE BRAIN TEASERS! (KIDDING - if you were on the secret list, you’ve probably had enough of that by now 🤣)

WEEKS 1-4

Get training! On a weekly basis, you’ll receive a form to your inbox that invites you to reflect on the previous week and gives you the opportunity for some self-coaching.

Note: there will be a variety of training sessions available to you to accommodate for training goals, skill level, equipment needs, and your primary climbing focus (e.g. routes vs. bouldering)

RECOVERY WEEK

It’s catch-up week. Or a week for recovery - up to you. Use this week to finish up any sessions you didn’t get to OR do the “deload” versions of the training sessions (these will be available in the app). Use this week to get ready - we’re making the programming harder in weeks 6-8.

There will be another group call during week 5 where we will:

  • Celebrate progress!
  • Troubleshoot any hang-ups you had during the first 4 weeks
  • Review the progressions coming up in weeks 6-8.

WEEKS 5-8

Keep training, keep reflecting and keep asking for support inside the community. Finish strong!

What happens after week 8?

We start again - with new programming of course. So stick around for more programming and more progression. Ready to change it up and go it alone - GO OFF, QUEEN! 👑
